Good afternoon,

We would like to invite you to attend a fully hosted familiarisation trip to the UK to experience our bespoke ‘Brilliant Science’ tours in Cheshire, Staffordshire and Manchester. These tours offer an exclusive opportunity to explore the region's cultural attractions from a scientific perspective - the tours are curated by experts and attendees would be in the company of like-minded professionals. Including these tours in your conference social programme could really give you a 'unique selling point' when marketing your conference.

There is an enormous amount of 'science-related interest' to offer in the region, for example:
  • Jodrell Bank, home to the Lovell Telescope, one of the largest steerable radio telescopes in the world, hosts the international headquarters of the Square Kilometre Array, an ambitious global project set to create the largest radio telescope on planet earth;
  • Chester Zoo, one of the top 15 zoos in the world, has over 25,000 animals and is a highly respected centre of excellence for global conservation, research and breeding some of the world’s most endangered animals;
  • The Catalyst Centre, the first chemical factory (established in 1855 by John Hutchinson, a chemist and industrialist) is home to the entire Imperial Chemical Industries General Chemicals Division Research Archive;
  • Stoke-on-Trent is the world capital of bone china, porcelain and ceramic manufacturing and is home to the World of Wedgewood, one of the most important cultural collections in the world.
  • The Anderton Boat Lift was the first engineered 2 caissons boat lift built in 1875 and is still operational;
  • Manchester University has produced a number of Nobel prize winners in the areas of Physics and Chemistry including Ernest Rutherford, Sir William Bragg, Patrick Blackett, as well as the world renowned John Dalton who introduced the atomic theory into chemistry and undertook research into colour blindness;
  • The world's first electronic stored-program computer known as 'Baby' was built in Manchester and can still be seen today in the Science & Industry Museum.
The exclusive scientific pre-and post-conference tours would be adapted to suit your delegates according to your organisation's sector of interest. We believe our region could be of interest to your delegates should you choose the UK as a future host destination and the familiarisation trip will give you a 'taste' of what is on offer.  There are two dates for you to choose from:

7th - 8th March 2019
(arrive at Manchester Airport, early afternoon 6th March, depart 8th March)

21st - 22nd March 2019
(arrive at Manchester Airport, early afternoon 20th March, depart 22nd March)

Please let us know as soon as possible which of the two trips you can attend (or if there is someone else more appropriate who might attend in your place) so that we can reserve you a place - we only have a few spaces on each and the 21/22nd March is almost fully booked.  All logistics, accommodation or travel costs will be arranged and paid for by the Brilliant Science team.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Becky Hannon
