INSME at the OECD Committee on SMEs 

INSME along with representatives from 46 countries gathered at the 5th Session of the Committee on SMEs and Entrepreneurship (CSMEE), held on 9-10 November 2023 in Paris that was chaired by Martin Godel (SECO) a key representative from INSME’s network.

Connecting the EU Deeptech Ecosystem 

The AccelerAction project’s 4th and final DeepTech Talk took place on 14 November and was the perfect conclusion to the series of roundtables. Professionals discussed current challenges and possible solutions to address the imbalance in the European DeepTech and innovation ecosystem. 

INSME at the European Crowdfunding Convention  

The 12th European Crowdfunding Convention took place on November 15-16, 2023, in Milan. This year, participants explored the evolution of national markets transitioning to the Regulation on European Crowdfunding Service Providers (ECSP).

RaDAR – Networking for Innovation in Healthcare! 

In the pursuit of tackling one of the most pressing challenges in modern healthcare—antimicrobial resistance (AMR)—INSME hosted the RaDAR InfoDay. The event was a dynamic platform where SMEs in the medical realm congregated to network with European partners.

BVMW’s study on digital skills for SMEs  

The Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Berlin offers an extensive analysis of digital competencies in small and medium-sized enterprises through its recent research, "Transformation and Future Competences in SMEs".

Enterprise Greece wins “Best National Investment Attraction” at the 2023 Go Global Awards. 

INSME wishes to congratulate Enterprise Greece for winning the prestigious title of the Best National Investment Attraction for 2023. This remarkable accolade was bestowed upon the association at the esteemed 'Go Global Awards 2023'. 

WIPO Report: Record Number of Patent Applications Filed Worldwide in 2022 

In 2022, despite a decrease in global trademark and design filings, a notable surge was seen in innovation with a record 3.46 million patent applications submitted worldwide, marking the third year of growth as outlined in WIPO’s annual  report.

Social Economy Missions for Community Resilience  

The general objective of this call is to boost the development of social economy SMEs active in rural areas. The project is aiming at building a European network of regional and local authorities with converging priorities on social economy and creating space and opportunities at EU level for learning and collaboration.

EUIPO SME Fund 2023 

The SME Fund provides financial support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based in the European Union (EU) for the protection of their intellectual property (IP) rights. SMEs can apply for vouchers that will provide access to a partial refund of the IP fees paid. 

If you are an EU SME and would like to receive financial support from the Fund for the registration of your trademarks, designs, patents and new plant varieties,  click here and follow the steps for registration.  

Deadline: 8 December 2023 (as long as funds are available) 
 

GET Invest Matchmaking Services in Support of Private Sector Mobilisation 

 In collaboration with different stakeholders in the sector, the programme delivers a range of complementary services with an aim to substantially increase the volume and pace of investment, to contribute to building sustainable energy markets, and to thus help meet the twin challenge of sustainable energy and climate change. 

Deadline: 22 December 2023 
 

Resilient Value Chains 2024 

Achieving European Green Deal objectives, and notably a climate neutral and resource efficient economy, requires the full mobilisation of SMEs. The COVID-19 pandemic has also led to companies redesigning their supply chains and facing a new industrial revolution, brought on by a new generation of advanced technologies, which are underpinning the potential for competitive sustainability of SMEs. The action will build on and further connect existing EU specialised business support networks and centres – such as the Enterprise Europe Network, the European industry clusters registered under the European Cluster Collaboration Platform, Centres for Advanced Technologies for Industry.

Horizon Europe: New European Bauhaus – Innovative solutions for greener and fairer ways of life 

The New European Bauhaus, as closely connected to cultural heritage and culture, brings a cultural and creative dimension to the European Green Deal. Proposals should test, demonstrate and refine innovative solutions to achieve strategic investments in cultural heritage and the CCIs in the spirit of the New European Bauhaus initiative and search for links with the ESFRI Research Infrastructures in the Social and Cultural Innovation. 

Deadline: 7 February 2024 
 

MSCA Staff Exchanges 2023 

MSCA Staff Exchanges involve organizations from the academic and non-academic sectors (including SMEs) from across the globe. Support is provided for international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary mobility of R&I staff leading to knowledge transfer between participating organizations.

Low-Disruptive Renovation Processes Using Integration of Prefabricated Solutions for Energy Efficient Buildings  

Low-disruptive renovation processes, using prefabricated modules that are quick and easy to apply can play an important role in increasing the renovation rate of the European building stock. Renovation processes should cover the whole workflow from design to offsite manufacture, installation, compliance checking on site and end strategies for maintenance, operation and end of life.
