A joint INSME-OECD conference on the 1st of April 2020 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Bologna Charter on SMEs policies
On the 16th and 17th of October INSME Secretary General attended the 56th session of the OECD Working Party on SMEs and Entrepreneurship which took place at the OECD headquarters in Paris, France. INSME announced the organization of a joint INSME-OECD international conference on the 1st of April 2020 which will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Bologna Charter on SMEs policies – the document that put the basis for the establishment of INSME .

INSME Secretary General in Vietnam for the final conference of the The Juvenile Employment Bac Ninh – JEB project
On the 25th of October INSME Secretary General Giovanni Zazzerini was in Hanoi, Vietnam to present the results of the research "Developing Entrepreneurial Competencies in Vietnam", an initiative carried out in the framework of “The Juvenile Employment Bac Ninh – JEB”, a project financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and implemented by ELIS NGO and the Vietnamese Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs – DOLISA.

A training on financing and internationalization for Serbian entrepreneurs
The fourth and final best practices lab held on the 8th and 9th of October marked the conclusion of the BE.ST. [BEst practices exchange to STimulate Serbian SMEs growth] project. On the first day the event was hosted by CEI – Central European Initiative in Trieste, while the second one was dedicated to a site visit to the T2i – technology transfer and innovation incubator in Rovigo.

INSME President at the International Meeting of Young Entrepreneurs in Udine
INSME President Sergio Arzeni was one of the speakers of “BUSINESS MEETS FUTURE” - International Meeting of Young Entrepreneurs. The event organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Pordenone-Udine, Enterprise Europe Network, the Committee for Young Entrepreneurs of Pordenone-Udine took place on the 18th of October in Udine, Italy.

The International Trade Centre – ITC collaborates to the development of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Accelerator
The Women’s Entrepreneurs Accelerator is an initiative promoted by Mary Kay Inc., a leading advocate of women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship, and established thanks to the strategic collaboration among 6 United Nations Agencies: UN Women, United Nations Office for Partnerships (UNOP), International Labour Organization - ILO, UN Global Compact – UNGC, the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP and the International Trade Centre (ITC) (INSME Member).

World Intellectual Property Indicators
WIPO (INSME Member) recently released the 2019 edition of its annual World Intellectual Property Indicators (WIPI) report, a flagship publication presenting the latest trends in global intellectual property activity.
The report includes ca. 180 indicators covering data for 160 IP offices around the world and covers patents, utility models, trademarks, industrial designs, microorganisms, plant variety protection and geographical indications by offering insightful data.

Call for proposals to set up a “European Digital Academy”
The European Commission opened a call for proposals to set up the “European Digital Academy” with the aim to provide all European citizens with a better understanding and an enhanced awareness on digital technologies as well as to re- and up-skill them in order to be prepared to the transformation of the digital market.
Among the eligible activities that can be proposed by legal entities established in EU member States the call welcomes:
- the planning, design, implementation, co-ordination and management of the project;
- activities related to knowledge management, dissemination and training in emerging digital technologies, in particular Artificial Intelligence, blockchain technology, robotics, Internet of Things;
- studies, analyses, action plans and mapping activities directly related to the project and many others.
The total budget is estimated at €1.700.000, this amount shall cover 70% of the eligible costs of the project plus indirect costs
The deadline to submit proposals is the 21st of November 2019.

The Arab Startup Competition
The MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab announced the 13th edition of the Arab Startup Competition, an initiative that aims at empowering entrepreneurs and fostering an innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in the Middle East.
Teams of at least two members can compete in one of the following tracks: the start-up track, the ideas track and the social entrepreneurship track. The winning teams will be awarded prize money in equity free fund and will take benefit from training, mentorship, coaching, media exposure and networking opportunities.
The competition is open to start-ups registered or at least operating in an Arab country.
The deadline for applications is the 10th of December 2019.

Ideas change Lives: the British Council Global Innovation Challenge
The British Council promotes #IdeaschangeLives, a global competition supporting thoughtful, creative and unusual digital solutions that addresses one of the Sustainable Development Goals among the following ones: quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth.
The best idea will be awarded with a cash prize of £ 20.000 and will receive support from a team of digital experts as well as mentorship from the British Council plus advice from subject matter experts on how to potentially grow and scale-up the proposed idea.
The challenge is open to both individuals and organizations and the deadline to apply is the 10th of January 2020.

ISPIM Connects Bangkok 2020: Partnering for an Innovative Community – Call for submissions
ISPIM - the International Society for Professional Innovation Management is organizing the Conference “ISPIM Connects Bangkok 2020: Partnering for an Innovative Community” in Bangkok, Thailand from the 1st to the 4th of March 2020 and invites academics, researchers, representatives from industries and intermediary organizations, and policy makers to submit their papers on one of the following general themes: Artificial Intelligence and Innovation, Creativity in Innovation, Social Entrepreneurship, Innovation Policies & Instruments and many others.
The deadline to submit the outline of the papers is the 6th of December 2019.

South East Asia Going Digital
South East Asia is one of the most dynamic regions in the world with an average of growth of 5.1% per year from 2011 to 2015. The OECD has conducted an extensive Going Digital project which identified seven key policy areas that are crucial to the digital transformation: enhancing access to communication services and related technologies; increasing the use of digital services and applications; unleashing digital innovation; ensuring good jobs; promoting social prosperity; strengthening trust; and fostering marketing openness.

Blockchain now and tomorrow
The European Commission's Joint Research Centre recently released “Blockchain now and tomorrow. Assessing multidimensional impacts of distributed ledger technologies”, a publication analyzing the state of the art of blockchain technology and exploring the transformations it is bringing and will bring in the near future.

UNIDO 18th General Conference “Industry 2030 – Innovate. Connect. Transform our future”

From the 3rd to the 7th of November Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates will host the 38th UNIDO General Conference on “Industry 2030 – Innovate. Connect. Transform our Future.”
The Conference will gather hundreds of participants from all over the world – including Heads of State, ministers and high-level government officials, senior representatives from UN organizations, prominent leaders from the private sector, civil society and academia who will discuss the most urgent topics on the global agenda: circular economy, sustainable energy, youth and entrepreneurship, Industry 4.0 and many others.
