Most association leaders we talked to about their working relationship with the Executive Head of the association and their board said that they and the association would gain from improving it, optimising their partnership and working style. A surprising number said that they needed many months to establish a working relationship at the begninning. 

We invited the experts at Tecker International, who have been supporting associations internationally for over 20 years with these issues, to work with us to create the Association Leaders Symposium, similar to ones they have been doing in other regions both onsite and online.

This 5 & 6 December we hold our 2nd Association Leaders Symposium, and once again it will be online which can work exceptionally for you with very limited time to dedicate to the association business.

At this symposium the Executive Heads and the Chairs / Presidents attend together, and are often accompanied by their deputies / vice-presidents as well as incoming ones. In every section of the symposium each association has its own breakout where you work together on issues. In addition, on the morning of the second day there is the Mega-Issues session where delegates address the most pressing leadership challenges.

Over the two days delegates will:

• Build a culture of shared understanding and commitment
• Evaluate working styles and leadership strengths through assessment
• Establish a common understanding of roles, responsibilities, and relationships
• Evaluate critical components of successful leadership, governance, and strategy
• Identify essential questions to ask about your association's digital transformation model
• Outline governance relationships between association board and staff members
• Identify current and anticipated trends facing leaders of contemporary associations
• Employ the value of research and strategy in knowledge-based decision making
• Apply successful practices and models to strategic planning and thinking
