The European Commission launches the first call for proposals under the Innovation Fund
The European Commission pitched the first proposal under the Innovation Fund with the purpose to finance cutting edge technology to boost the use of renewable energy, energy storage, low-carbon solutions for energy-intensive industries and carbon capture and storage. The Innovation Fund will earmark around € 10 billion to finance the projects with the final aim to avoid greenhouse gas emission, enhance innovation and efficiency in terms of costs and scale-up opportunities.
The call is open for all EU Member States, Iceland and Norway and the deadline for submissions is on the 29th of October 2020.

Sustainable Development Goals Global Startup Competition
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) which is the UN agency for the promotion of sustainable, accessible, and inclusive tourism, launches one of the most remarkable calls for startups able to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This opportunity is addressed to all startups, regardless of the country of origin or the economic sector which are sustainability-driven and committed in the promotion of innovative methods, processes, technologies and governance models.
Among the benefits for the winning startups, there are the participation in a mentorship programme, the technological support and the chance to be part of the UNWTO Innovation Network.
The deadline for applications is the 20th of September 2020.
