NO MORE SUFFERING IN SILENCE

The silence surrounding menopause, particularly in the workplace, speaks a thousand words. Despite half of the world’s population set to go through it at some point in their lives, we still don’t give menopause the airtime it deserves.

Northstar Meetings Group is trying to change that. Our research looking at the impact of menopause in the workplace has revealed that event professionals who are experiencing menopause feel unsupported:
  • 63 per cent said it has prevented them from doing their job to the best of their ability
  • 70 per cent said it has had a negative impact on their mental health
The research did reveal, however, that menopause is steadily making its way into workplace conversations:
  • Over half of respondents said they have heard menopause being discussed in their workplace
  • 88 per cent of respondents want to know more about menopause
Menopause has historically been surrounded by stigma and misinformation. Open discussions in the workplace could challenge these misconceptions and break down barriers. These conversations and heightened awareness will hopefully lead to improved employee wellbeing and greater talent retention.
