| | | Annual Report 2018 Is Released
| Dear colleagues and friends, We are delighted to announce that the ZEW Annual Report 2018 is now available – and in a completely new design. We hope you like the new look and structure of the report just as much as we do. One new feature of the Annual Report is that it puts the spotlight on a particularly relevant topic that ZEW provides many insightful findings for. This year, the focus is on digitalisation, where we report on ZEW studies and events organised by ZEW devoted to this topic. Beyond digitalisation, the Annual Report informs you as usual about the research conducted at our institute, as well as the events, conferences, and other recent developments at ZEW. 2018 was certainly an eventful year for ZEW, with the strategic expansion of the institute into a centre of expertise for market and institutional design being well on its way. Together with this new strategic initiative, the institute has officially changed its name to "ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research." You may download the ZEW Annual Report below

ZEW in Mannheim conducts research in the field of applied and policy-oriented economics and provides access to important data sets for national and international researchers. The institute provides advice to policymakers, private companies and government institutions at both the national and EU level on how to tackle current economic policy challenges. The central concern of ZEW’s research is to analyse and design markets and institutions that allow for the sustainable and efficient development of knowledge-based economies in Europe. By keeping the public informed on its latest research and providing further training to researchers and business leaders alike, ZEW acts as a guide through economic change. ZEW was founded in 1991 and employs a staff of approximately 180, two thirds of whom are researchers. ZEW is a member of the Leibniz Association, a network of outstanding research institutes in Germany.
