News from INSME

INSME’s 18th Annual Meeting took place in Baku on 1 and 2 December, co-organised by INSME member in Azerbaijan, KOBIA, and focused on “SMEs empowerment through Economic Diversification and Green Growth”.

After meeting in Rome for the project’s fourth Consortium Meeting on 28 October, the RaDAR Consortium of buyers has officially launched its Open Market Consultation process and the call for innovative solutions to tackle the challenge of Anti-microbial resistance (AMR).

On 17 and 18 November in Rome, 21 international partners met in Rome to start the project SUPERSHINE, co-financed by the programme Horizon Europe, coordinated by CIVIESCO SRL, in which INSME is involved as partner.

During the second edition of the Italian Knowledge Leaders, Sergio Arzeni, INSME President, received the Italian Knowledge Leaders Award and recognised as a leading player in innovation.

Euromed Clusters Forward Kick off
The kick-off meeting of  the Euromed Clusters Forward took place recently in Malta, hosted by Malta Enterprise and ANIMA Investment Network to facilitate business matchmaking among MENA and EU clusters and other innovation actors.
The Lebanese Development Network (LDN) participated in the 5th Union for Mediterranean (UfM) Ministerial Meeting on “Strengthening the Role of Women in Society”, held on 26 October 2022 in Madrid.
Casasco (CEA-PME): Strengthening the European SMEs Unity Process

The President Emeritus of Confapi and President of Cea-Pme, Maurizio Casasco, led the European Assembly of Small and Medium Enterprises, now in its twelfth edition, in Katowice (Poland) on 21 November.

Studi Ricerche Mezzogiorno (SRM), INSME member, produced a report to explore the opportunities and challenges of an improved Euro-Mediterranean economic cooperation at times of geopolitical turbulence and the emergence of deglobalizing trends and processes.
Content of the month
The EIC Summit took place on 7-8 December in Brussels where European innovation policy developments and challenges have been discussed with deep-tech innovative start-ups, researchers, investors, policymakers and corporates.

The European Commission has recently launched a public consultation on the past, present and future of the EU’s Horizon research and innovation programmes for 2014-2027.

G20 Leaders met in Bali on 15-16 November 2022, highlighting once more the importance of a strong international cooperation to address the recent challenges and this time of unparalleled multidimensional crises.
The Green Technology Book takes a look at the state of play of green technologies responding to some of the most critical challenges of climate change, illustrating how healthy innovation ecosystems are generating a wealth of green technology solutions.

EUR 20 million fund for Ukrainian tech start-ups
The European Commission, through the European Innovation Council, has set up a €20 million support fund for Ukrainian innovation stakeholders to ensure their access to the EU market. This new initiative is targeted at over 200 Ukrainian tech start-ups and offers €60.000 in funding to each project, aside from non-financial measures like advisory and matchmaking services. It will be released with a call for proposals for networks of start-up associations, clusters, and other business organisations willing to support Ukrainian innovation stakeholders.

TOURISM4.0: Capacity building and peer-learning transnational supporting scheme towards smart, innovative, and sustainable tourism
The offer includes training to increase skills and competencies with extensive knowledge transfer and matchmaking events for cooperation accompanied by an exchange of best practices and mentoring support.  These capacity-building activities will enable the company to implement new practices in its businesses.

Greening social economy SMEs and entrepreneurs in the proximity and social economy ecosystem through transnational co-operation
In view of delivering on the Green Deal and reaching climate neutrality by 2050, the general objective of this call is to green the processes and activities of SMEs in the social economy by boosting the development of sustainable practices through capacity building, knowledge transfer and transnational cooperation.

Call For Selection of Innovative Tourism SMEs
EU DigiTOUR is an EU funded project holding the mission of magnifying the digital transformation in the tourism sector. To achieve the mission, EU DigiTOUR designed the High-Growth Programme which provides the technical support activities related to the EU deep tech tourism innovative SMEs to bridge the gap in the adoption of digital techs to European traditional tourism SMEs.
