To whom it may concern,

I am contacting you today on behalf of colleagues that take part in conferences and events run by your professional organisation.

I am reaching out to ask if your professional organisation would consider joining the UK Government HMRC list of professional bodies approved for tax relief on fees and subscriptions, so that our colleagues who frequently purchase memberships for your organisation can claim reimbursement from King’s College London. The process involves completing a three-page P356 form which can be found here.

Paying memberships for any association not on the HMRC list is challenging King’s compliance with HMRC tax rules, requiring additional tax remittance claims on the part of the individual and College. Therefore, King’s will no longer reimburse costs for individual memberships that are not compliant with HMRC and fees must be borne by the individual.

Membership to your organisation for our colleagues is vital and we would like to ensure continued engagement in future. We presume this tightening of tax rules will also be felt across the higher education sector and have seen that other organisations are signing up to become approved.

We hope that you will consider joining the HMRC list and look forward to continued interaction between our two organisations.

Please do confirm once you have applied via the HMRC website. Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact our Business Support Team:
