Hi Jeanette

In discussing the challenges our CEO members face, quickly establishing an agreed method of working with an incoming or new President / Chair was considered critical for the association's success. If they could do this more rapidly and also ensure the President / Chair understood their role it would avoid their intrusion into your executive function and create a smoother team.

Our 3rd Association Leaders Symposium 2024 in January, brings together Executive Directors and Presidents/Chairs, specifically to overcome these issues, as well as ensure priorties are agreed and decisions are made by the board in a logical and data-driven way.

All previous delegates said they would recommend the Symposium to other association leaders, that it would improve or greatly improve the working relationship between President/Chair and Executive Head. In addition they all said it enhanced their leadership skills.  Specific testimonials from heads of different types of associations and societies may be helful to you and are at the website here

The Symposium is held online, which enables delegates to attend most efficiently - Presidents / Chairs often can't afford the travel time to attend such an event physically, and additionally the practical challenges of each association in their own breakout to discuss their specific issues is well organised online.

The Symposium will help you:

  • Build a shared understanding and commitment
  • Establish working styles and leadership strengths of each other
  • Define clearly the roles, responsibilities, and relationships
  • Evaluate the critical components of successful leadership, governance, and strategy
  • Identify essential questions to ask about your association's digital transformation model
  • Outline governance relationships between the association board and staff members
  • Identify current and anticipated trends facing you as leaders of a contemporary association
  • Determine the value of research in knowledge-based decision making
  • Apply successful practices and models to strategic planning and thinking
The interactive format for each section includes:
  • A presentation from the experts
  • Clarification questions & answers
  • Individual breakouts for each association (Executive Head and President / Chair together)
  • Review of issues from the breakouts

Once again, we draw on the expertise of Jim Meffert and Cheryl Williams, world leading experts in association governance, who I will be supporting throughout. Please view their details at the website here.

I would very much like to discuss with you how this Symposium could be of benefit to you. Please email me at cecilia.spoor@associationexecutives.org with a few times and we can set up a call.

Do of course email me if you have any questions in the meantime.

With best regards

Cecilia
