The decision has been made according to the criteria stated in the call for papers, i.e. novelty, academic quality and the proposed paper's relation to industrial dynamics in general and to the themes of the conference in particular. All papers have been reviewed anonymously by at least three reviewers working independently of each other. We received more than 700 submissions for DRUID24, and consequently, we have had to be strict in applying our decision-making criteria. We regret to inform you that your paper has not been accepted for presentation at the conference. As stated in the call and during the submission process no review or comments will be offered to the author or authors to supplement the decision. However, you are encouraged to register for DRUID24 -- a rewarding experience both intellectually and socially. Please see the plenary conference program, available on the conference website. We acknowledge that many scholars interested in attending the conference can only get their participation funded if they present a paper during the conference. In order to faciliate this process we are considering launching two Special Paper Sessions on June 14 pending on sufficient interest. Novel ideas not yet recognized by established reviewers will get attention of the audience in such a session. The session will be organized in tracks and rooms allocated. Presenters will receive a certification of participation in the conference with the name of the author and paper title, much the same as all other presenters, but papers for a Special Paper Session will not be available on the conference website or in the formal conference program and no chair or discussant will be appointed by the conference organizers. If you wish us to consider organizing such an option, please a) register for the conference and pay the conference fee and b) return this email to us, stating "Special Paper Session" in the subject field of the mail. If you have sent this email to us we will notify you before May 20 if there has been shown sufficient interest to make us organize these Special Paper Sessions. A few practicalities regarding registration and participation to the conference: Registration can be accessed by clicking “Registration” on the right hand of the screen after logon. DRUID offers DRUID DISCOVERIES excursions, including a boat cruise and a guided trip to old Nice on June 14. Read more under "Practical" on the conference webpage's top blue banner, and sign up through the registration page. Space is limited so please sign up ASAP. On the same page, registration and payment is available for the DRUID DECADENCE afterparty in the evening June 14. Read more under "Practical". Be sure to make your hotel bookings very soon, as hotels in Nice in the summer season are in short supply and late reservations tend to get very expensive. In essence, your role will be to introduce the presenter and allocated discussants; control the length of time that they speak for and manage any questions from the floor. In most sessions three papers will be presented. Notify the Conference Organizers immediately if you become suspicious of any possible fabrication of data or plagiarism relating to the papers in your session. We believe that it is important to establish some ground rules that everybody understands and works towards during the conference: * Please arrive in the room where the session is to take place at least five minutes before the appointed time. If using PowerPoint the presenters and discussants have been asked to upload their presentation or comments on the PC before the start of the session to save time. Solicit advice at the info desk or through student assistants if experiencing trouble. * Introduce yourself to the presenters before the session. Ask them for biographical details to use in introducing them. Make sure that their presentation has been uploaded. Inform them of the maximum time they will have to present their paper. For example, in a one and a half hour session with three papers, each presenter should have 15 minutes and the two discussants should be allocated 12 minutes each. It is important that participants are given the chance to ask additional questions from the floor. * If for some reason not both assigned discussants turn up you might offer prepared comments yourself or allocate the time to the other discussant or to the floor. * For each paper introduce the author and title of the paper. * A series of cards to help the presenter or discussants to manage the time will be available to you in each workshop room. - The first card you pass indicates that the presenter or discussant has a maximum of five minutes left. - The second card indicates that there are two minutes left. - The third and final RED card indicates that their time is over and the presenter or discussant must STOP. In issuing the red card you must be polite but firm. It is to be fair to other presenters or discussants in the session and to the audience who will wish to contribute in the discussion time. * In managing the questions and answers part of each session please ask those asking questions to identify themselves and to keep their comments as short as possible to allow time for the presenters to respond in full. Hello DRUID organizer, I am a first time presenter and discussant at DRUID. I am curious how long my presentation should last? And how long I should comment as a discussant (with three papers and two discussants). You mentioned in the guidelines that the discussant should budget 12 min. But since we have two discussants, does that mean I should budget 6 min for my part?
